What our staff say about working here
I am going into my 4th Year of Teaching here at Chipping Campden School and the opportunities to grow and develop my practice continue to arrive. In 2020 I was lucky enough to have Chipping Campden School as one of my placement schools during my PGCE Teacher training year. This enabled me to understand the background to the school and experience the support provided to new teachers learning the profession.
One of the biggest positives as trainee teacher going through the new ECT framework was having an experience member of staff as a mentor to guide me through my first 2 years with regular meetings. These meetings included help with the ECT framework and gave me time in a busy schedule to discuss with an experienced member of staff any questions I had whilst learning the role of a teacher.
Chipping Campden School as a unique feeling to it which and is made up of a staff body who really cares. Wellbeing is at the forefront of the Senior Leadership’s plans which include wellbeing days in the academic calendar to help improve the teacher work-life balance. Planning time is protected as much as possible to ensure we have time to make use of the numerous resources provided to us to improve our practice. Opportunities for progression are plenty. I have now progressed to taking on a Head of House role alongside my teaching, furthering my responsibility in the school community. The biggest asset to the school is the people. They create a hardworking, respectful and supportive environment to work in.
Charlie Gullis
Teacher of PE and Head of Hicks House
I joined this school in September 2005. Having graduated from The University of Sunderland, I saw a move to Chipping Campden as a great opportunity to begin my career. Not only have I had great support at the start of my career, but I have had ongoing opportunities to develop as a professional and as a person. I have always felt supported, guided, given the best of opportunities, and always surrounded by colleagues who have encouraged me to always give the best version of myself. In my time, I have worked as a classroom teacher, progressed to Head of Careers, and more recently I have taken on the role of Head of Business & Economics. None of this would have been possible without the support of everybody involved, including our parents and our very motivated students. I absolutely recommend Chipping Campden School as a place to begin or develop your career. The fact that I have remained here since 2005 is a testament to the fact that I have always felt that I can achieve all my goals and ambitions in this school. I really look forward to continuing my progression here and look forward to potentially working with you in the future.

Working at CCS feels like having a second family. Everyone is friendly from management and classroom staff to caterers, counsellors, administrators, and the site team. Everyone plays their part to ensure our young people receive the very best educational experience alongside personal development.
Over my 24 years I have seen the school develop and grow, continually adapting with each new generation, whilst keeping to its core values of kindness, generosity, and compassion. CCS goes above and beyond for students with high expectations for all. Whether gifted and talented or those with complex needs, all students are equally valued and prepared for a bright future.
CCS also creates opportunities for its staff to develop and has supported me to progress from Teaching Assistant to Assistant SENCo.
Each day comes with a variety of successes and challenges, but I feel privileged that I can share this with a team full of people who are as passionate as I am about supporting and caring for our students.Â
Sharon Rae
Assistant SENCO
I feel very proud to be a member of Chipping Campden School. Having joined as an ECT, in 2023, I soon felt a strong sense of belonging and empowerment. I have been thoroughly supported by the ECT programme via weekly mentor meetings, in addition to bi-weekly meetings with other ECT’s and our expert training lead.Â
As a geography teacher and tutor, I feel supported and trusted to have autonomy to facilitate students learning alongside consistent materials and guidance. Clear behaviour policies strive to reward and celebrate student’s positive choices and attitudes to learning. Each year group is led by both a Director of Learning and Pastoral Year Lead (non-teaching) to ensure all students are safeguarded, supported and championed.
There is a clear focus on mental and physical wellbeing here. All staff can make use of the gym and swimming facilities. Three wellbeing days per year, provide staff with the chance to prioritise this from home. There are also many opportunities to socialise with colleagues, via a range of events and staff clubs. For example, art club, badminton and a fitness class.
I believe there are ample opportunities for personal and professional growth. In my first year, I have been appointed as Head of Fereby and look forward to further enhancing the house system. The teaching journal club offers an exciting opportunity to discuss, observe and practise first quality teaching. Additionally, the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) committee works to ensure Chipping Campden School is a space which includes and celebrates all.
Jazzi Howels-Smith
Early Careers Teacher and Head of Fereby House
I started my teaching journey at Chipping Campden School in 2012 as an English trainee, and have happily remained ever since.
Â
The continuous support from the leadership team and the wider school body have been instrumental in shaping my teaching style and technique. I am constantly challenged to improve and refine my practice, and have been given the necessary tools to achieve this. The school have been incredibly supportive of my professional development, allowing me to complete various qualifications as part of my CPD. These opportunities have been pivotal in my growth as an educator, and are indicative of how much Chipping Campden School values their staff. The professional growth programme is supportive, and staff are given autonomy over their own development targets with support and feedback from line managers, SLT, and other members of their team.Â
Students at Chipping Campden School are polite and kind; they genuinely look out for one another. While no school is without its challenges, our students are a remarkable group, often going above and beyond in areas they’re passionate about- something that is regularly celebrated by individual staff and the leadership team. Their passions are encouraged to develop outside as well as inside the classroom, and one thing I love about our school is the variety of extra-curricular activities offered to students. There are so many opportunities to develop positive relationships with the student body, and these are a great way to also foster relationships with staff outside of your own faculty.Â
Â
I am proud to be part of Chipping Campden School, where the teaching staff as well as the students are inspired and empowered to excel, and I look forward to many more years of growth and development.
