The Board of Directors at Chipping Campden School is made up of a wide spectrum of individuals with a diverse range of skills. These skills are put to good use in crafting the various committees, which in turn help support the Principal in their running of the Academy.

The strategic direction of the Academy is the main role of the board that is fundamental as it seeks to fulfil the promise to provide the very best rounded education and future opportunities for its students.

The Board is a fluid organisation and is always striving to improve and strengthen its skills base and so is always receptive of volunteers with the appropriate skills, either for full Board members or supporting the development of the school being a member of a project working party or committee.

It is an absolute privilege to lead our wonderful school - somewhere that has a very special place in my heart. I am a northerner ‘born and bred’ and spent the first eighteen years of my life in the town of Rotherham in South Yorkshire. Having studied mathematics at The University of Exeter, I then spent two years teaching in central London, before relocating to the Cotswolds and joining Chipping Campden School as a Teacher of Mathematics. I spent the next decade at the school, as a Head of Year, Head of House and latterly as Assistant Headteacher, before leaving in 2012 to assume a Deputy Headship in another school. During the period from 2015 to 2023 I have been Headteacher of two other schools, and in September 2023 began my current post back here at Chipping Campden School. I feel very humbled to be in the position to be able to give something back to a school that gave me so much in my earlier teaching career. I have two daughters aged 15 and 13 who keep me very busy indeed, but in my downtime, I am usually very active. I have run five marathons, the most recent in 2021, and for the past year or so have found a new passion for Triathlons. I used to play rugby, but now my body is not quite up to the demands of playing I have to settle for watching - my team being the Cherry and White of Gloucester Rugby. I am an avid reader and usually have two or three books on the go. Above all I believe in kindness, hard work and honesty; these are three personal values that I speak with students about as much as possible.

Andrew comes from a background of the printing & Licensed Trade, working as an area manager opening new late night bars around the UK. Moving on from the night time trade he is now in logistics & transport for a multi-million local paving company. Andrew has had two sons at Chipping Campden School both now making their own way in the world. Since taking on the role of Chair he has overseen a complete restructure of the board with new governors having to undergo stringent interviews to find the best ‘fit’ for the board in terms of skills required & being part of a team.

Chris has over 30 years’ experience of business leadership. After graduating with a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College in London he spent 17 years in business, holding senior leadership positions in Unilever – both in Supply Chain and Marketing. For the last 14 years he has run a successful consulting business, working globally with organisations on strategy, leadership development and team effectiveness. He is trained in multiple tools to enhance individual and team/organisational performance as well as having extensive business operational and financial skills. Chris has worked as a governor since 2006 at a variety of infant, primary and secondary schools in the state sector. At points during this he has been Vice Chair and Chair of Governors as well leading a variety of committees. Chris is particularly passionate about the importance of state education, and his youngest daughter is in Year 11 at Chipping Campden School.

David Betteley started his career in Financial Services as a graduate trainee with Lloyds and Scottish Finance (part of the Lloyds Bank Group) in Manchester in the late 70’s. In 1989 he joined the International Motors Group (IM) to set up their in-house Finance Company in the UK to support the Hyundai and Subaru brands. Staying with IM, he moved to Sweden in 1992 to run the vehicle distribution operations for IM in Scandinavia, Russia and the Baltic states. In 1996 he moved back to the UK to become MD of Vauxhall Finance and successfully managed the transition from 7 branches to one central location. In 1998 he was recruited by Toyota to insource their Financial Services operations in the UK. He went on to become a Senior Vice President when he had the responsibility for overall operations, sales and marketing and the development of new markets for both Toyota and Lexus in the Europe and Africa region. During this 12 year period at Toyota he also served as a Pension Trusteee which gives him good experience to serve in a similar capacity at JLR. In 2010 David joined Jaguar Land Rover as Global Financial Services Director, retiring in July 2017. David now works as an independent advisor to Genpact Ltd and other companies. His main non-executive role has been as Chairman of the Finance and Leasing Association in the UK during the period May 2007 to May 2010 David holds an MBA from Aston Business School Outside work his time is mainly devoted to his family. However he enjoys the occasional game of golf and still follows closely the fortunes of Manchester City.

After 39 years in education, Sara retired 6 years ago. She ended her career as a Vice Principal of a large comprehensive and has had a wealth of experience in the safeguarding and pastoral care of young people. She has run courses for the local authority, training newly qualified teachers and has 7 years of governance experience; this includes three years of chairing the board of an alternative provision school. She is currently the safeguarding lead for the trustees at CCS and sits on the Education Committee. She lives in Bretforton with her husband, her son attended CCS and she is an active artist and continues to teach art to adults in her spare time.

Geoff is a Chartered Architect with extensive experience of private practice based in London and Birmingham. His project work covered most of the principal sectors of the economy including education. Geoff and his wife Pam moved into Chipping Campden in 2019 and are keen to participate in community activities. Geoff is pleased to have been invited to serve as a co-opted Governor from September 2021 and has already been involved in a number of initiatives. He is keen to continue working with the whole School community.

Jonathan has over 30 years of commercial experience gained across both international branded retail and commercial property. He has held Director positions at both Nike UK and Nike Russia, in addition he has also been a Senior Director at Land Securities, the UK's Largest Commercial Property Company. More recently Jonathan has been the Sales Director for Three UK, he has also headed up the international retail business and global property function for Superdry. Jonathan has lived and worked in The Netherlands, Switzerland, Russia and Spain but now is firmly located with his family in the Cotswolds. He holds an MBA from The University of Stirling in Scotland. Outside of work he is very much a family man and loves to travel extensively with them, he also has an interest in anything technical. Jonathan is also the Chair and CCS parent representative at Abbey View Alternative Provision School. He is passionate about creating opportunities through education for children.

I am a Senior Circuit Judge and have sat as a Judge for seventeen years. Prior to that I practised as a barrister for over twenty five years, ten of which as King’s Counsel, engaged in a wide variety of criminal and civil litigation. I also sit in the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division). My work is mainly conducting murder and terrorist trials. For the last ten years I have been the Senior Resident Judge for Birmingham and responsible for the running one of the largest courts with a leadership and pastoral role for over twenty Judges and over 100 staff. Throughout the year I lecture and train all Judges who sit in criminal jurisdiction with regard to sentencing in murder cases and serious sexual offences including, specifically, sentencing children who have committed such offences. I have frequent contact with all agencies involved in the care of young people including Youth Offending Teams, the Probation Service and agencies who seek to prevent youngsters from becoming involved in crime including terrorism. I have been involved for over 40 years in an organisation which seeks to help disadvantaged youngsters and remain chairman of the trustees of that charity. I hope my experience allows me to bring a wide perspective in relation to the education, care and safeguarding of the children at this school, the welfare of the staff, and the overall governance of the school and its proper discharge of all of its duties.

Edward moved to the area with his family ten years ago and he is the principal dentist at Ashbee Dental Care in Chipping Campden. Working with NHS England, he has sat as chair of the Local Dental Network also helping to set up and chair several Managed Clinical Networks. Edward's eldest daughter currently attends CCS.

Keith moved to the Chipping Campden area having worked as the Governor Services Manager for Wandsworth LA for 8 years. In that role, he supported 60 maintained schools with governance and provided trained clerks for their meetings.
