Our Learning Resource Centre often also known as the library is a quiet and supportive environment where students can read, study and learn.
The LRC is a wonderful vibrant space situated along the north corridor.
In the LRC you will find a range of fiction and non-fiction books for all age ranges including graphic novels . We have spaces to sit quietly and relax as well as desks and computers for homework, study and revision. All students can borrow books for free from our school library.
The LRC is open every day and all students can visit during morning break and lunch. Throughout the rest of the school day the LRC may be closed for library lessons or other activities such as book clubs and meetings.
Sixth form students are very welcome to use the main library when it is free for silent study. The Excel library located in the sixth form block is a recent addition and provides a range of subject related books for our senior students.
At Chipping Campden School we use the Accessit library system and every user has access to the library catalogue.
Chipping Campden School (accessit.online)
Accessit is more than just a library system – students can view available books, make reservations , add book reviews, complete further research using our one search facility and much more. Our dashboard showcases book news and all of our current updates.
Our school uses the Accelerated Reader system for all of our year 7 and year 8 students. The system provides a structured approach to reading and enables our students to gain a better understanding of their own individual reading ability and helps to monitor progress and encourage growth . Teaching staff are better able to recognize students’ achievements and nurture new interests. Accelerated Reader helps create a culture of reading through choice. More information about how this works can be found here
Accelerated Reader – Overview | Renaissance
Library lessons are held fortnightly and during these lessons students are given the opportunity to read , return and take out new library books , complete accelerated reader quizzes and listen to a first chapter read.
We have a team of very able and experienced student librarians who help to run the Library. Students may apply to become a student librarian and we welcome volunteering opportunities for our Duke of Edinburgh students too. We are here to help so please do ask if you need anything.
