Our Culture

Our school is a school like no other. As one of the 50 oldest schools in the country, our culture has evolved over almost 600 years. The legacy of our three benefactors: John Fereby, Sir Baptist Hicks and George Townsend, provides the cornerstone on which our current students thrive and play their part in adding to the rich history of our unique school community.

The role of everyone connected with our school, as students or adults, is to ensure that we preserve this precious culture. All the while we seek to ensure that as we grow, develop and further improve, we do so in a way that those who have gone before us would be very proud, and its custodians in 600 years’ time will be thankful. In short, we each make a positive contribution to this school’s incredible story.

At Chipping Campden School we strive to create the conditions necessary for our students and staff to consistently perform at their best. We value breadth of opportunity for our students and a commitment to nurturing within them lasting personal strengths that will support them in the world they advance into beyond our school.

Since we are unashamedly ambitious for all our students, we are equally unapologetic about the high standards of academic achievement and conduct that are expected of them whilst they are students at our school. We believe that promoting structure, routine and high expectations of students in all aspects of school life enables them to develop the necessary ambition and drive, to achieve their very best.

At Chipping Campden School there is an overt acknowledgement that nothing worth achieving comes easy; learning is a process reliant on contributions, frustrations, mistakes and tenacity. It is only when we relentlessly pursue high aspirations and settle for nothing less than our very best do we excel.
