Record Breaking A Level Results 2025

THURSDAY 14th AUGUST 2025

Earlier today, students, parents, and staff at Chipping Campden School came together to celebrate the school’s most successful A Level results to date.

Year 13 students at the “outstanding” (Ofsted, May 2025) state-school sixth form beamed with pride as they received their eagerly awaited results. Over a quarter of all grades awarded were either A* or A, with more than half of all grades falling within the A*- B range. The proportion of students achieving at least AAB—an established national benchmark for three A Levels—rose to 21%, surpassing the national average by approximately 4%.

Beyond these impressive results, students were thrilled to have secured the grades necessary to pursue their next steps. The vast majority of the 124 students applying to study at university secured their first-choice destination. Overall, 89% of the students were successfully placed, whether through their first or reserve choices, or via clearing. More placements are expected throughout the day.

Another record smashed – of the 163 students receiving their results today, five students secured places at Oxford or Cambridge, while another student earned a place at the University of Liverpool to study medicine. In a further highlight, three students received individual commendations from the OCR awarding body for being among the highest- performing A Level Art students in the country.

As a sixth form with one of the widest course selections in the local area—offering 27 A Level subjects and six Cambridge Technical qualifications, results across the 33 qualifications were very strong.

Adding to this, 20 students successfully completed the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), with over half achieving A* or A grades. The school is also one of the largest providers of Level 3 Mathematical Studies in the South West, with 90 students completing this course alongside their three or four A Levels.

Our Principal, Gareth Burton, said:

“Our students have been rewarded for their relentless dedication to their studies over the past two years and their unwavering determination to push themselves to excel at the very highest level.”

“It is wonderful to see them, alongside their families, celebrating not only their outstanding grades but also the opportunities these results open for the next stage of their journey.

While recognising the students’ hard work and the invaluable support of their families, I also want to express my gratitude to our exceptional staff, whose expertise, care, and guidance have been instrumental in these achievements.”

On behalf of all staff at Chipping Campden School, we send our heartfelt congratulations to our Year 13 students. Your hard work, resilience, and ambition over the past two years have been truly inspiring, and we are excited to see the bright futures that lie ahead.
