Travelling to and from the school

If your child lives within our catchment area and more than three miles from the School by the nearest available route, they are entitled to free travel by bus while they are in years 7 – 11. Please use the link below to access this year’s application form.

The Local Authority now charges a fixed, subsidised rate for Sixth Formers.

In some cases permission is given to those living within three miles to travel on school buses, as fare paying passengers. Bus companies will collect fares either daily or for periods at their own discretion. For further details on Gloucester County Council’s policy on home to school transport go to the relevant page on their website.

‘Entitled’ students will be given free passes and must always show these or they may have to pay a daily fare. Lost passes will be replaced by Shire Hall at the cost of £5 (in the first instance) and students may be charged fares during the days when they have no pass.

Students from villages beyond our catchment area may be able to use School buses. Parents should contact Gloucestershire County Council in the first instance. If successful, parents should then contact the appropriate bus company to make arrangements about pick-up points and payments. Parents should ensure that they make these arrangements well before the student starts in September.

The driver is responsible for the safe passage of his/her passengers. All passengers must remain seated while the bus is moving and get on/off the bus from a pavement. The behaviours expected of students while being transported to and from school are set out in Gloucestershire County Council’s Code of Conduct. Where seat belts are provided, they must be worn.

Transport arrangements - September intake

Children living in catchment area attending Gloucestershire County Primary schools:

You should receive an application form via the primary school which must be returned to Shire Hall. Passes will then be forwarded to your home during the Summer holiday. If you have not received this form contact your primary school or Transport Section (Benefits), Shire Hall, Gloucester (Tel: 01452 425408).

Children living in catchment area but not attending County primary schools:

You should apply for application form from Transport Section, Shire Hall (Tel: 01452 425408).

For children living in Warwickshire:

Chipping Campden School will have informed Warwickshire Transport Section of children who will be starting with us in September. Please note that not all children living in Warwickshire will be entitled to passes for free transport. Please contact Warwickshire Transport Section (Tel: 01926 414164) to ascertain whether your child is eligible.

If your child will be using transport from Shipston on Stour:

All parents should contact Mike Baker (Bakers Coaches) on 01608 677415 to reserve a place on the bus. Bakers Coaches will make a charge to the parents.

Parents of children living outside the catchment area who wish their children to travel on Gloucestershire transport:

Should contact Transport Section, Shire Hall (Tel: 01452 425408) to find out whether there will be available space on the route involved. If space is available passes have to be purchased from Shire Hall. Please do not contact the bus companies direct.

Parents of children living in Worcestershire:

Should contact Worcestershire Transport Section (01905 763763) and apply for a bus pass. If your Council Tax is payable to Worcestershire County Council and Chipping Campden School is your nearest secondary school you may be entitled to free transport. If you pay your Council Tax to Gloucestershire but have a WR postcode, apply to Gloucestershire for a bus pass.

 Travelling by car

If you wish to bring your child to school by car the main bus park must not be used unless special arrangements have been made. Children should be dropped off/picked up so that they can enter/exit the School on foot via the ‘Old School Drive’.
