Travelling to and from the school
If your child lives within our catchment area and more than three miles from the School by the nearest available route, they are entitled to free travel by bus while they are in years 7 – 11. Please use the link below to access this year’s application form.
The Local Authority now charges a fixed, subsidised rate for Sixth Formers.
In some cases permission is given to those living within three miles to travel on school buses, as fare paying passengers. Bus companies will collect fares either daily or for periods at their own discretion. For further details on Gloucester County Council’s policy on home to school transport go to the relevant page on their website.
‘Entitled’ students will be given free passes and must always show these or they may have to pay a daily fare. Lost passes will be replaced by Shire Hall at the cost of £5 (in the first instance) and students may be charged fares during the days when they have no pass.
Students from villages beyond our catchment area may be able to use School buses. Parents should contact Gloucestershire County Council in the first instance. If successful, parents should then contact the appropriate bus company to make arrangements about pick-up points and payments. Parents should ensure that they make these arrangements well before the student starts in September.
The driver is responsible for the safe passage of his/her passengers. All passengers must remain seated while the bus is moving and get on/off the bus from a pavement. The behaviours expected of students while being transported to and from school are set out in Gloucestershire County Council’s Code of Conduct. Where seat belts are provided, they must be worn.
