I am going into my 4th Year of Teaching here at Chipping Campden School and the opportunities to grow and develop my practice continue to arrive. In 2020 I was lucky enough to have Chipping Campden School as one of my placement schools during my PGCE Teacher training year. This enabled me to understand the background to the school and experience the support provided to new teachers learning the profession.
One of the biggest positives as trainee teacher going through the new ECT framework was having an experience member of staff as a mentor to guide me through my first 2 years with regular meetings. These meetings included help with the ECT framework and gave me time in a busy schedule to discuss with an experienced member of staff any questions I had whilst learning the role of a teacher.
Chipping Campden School as a unique feeling to it which and is made up of a staff body who really cares. Wellbeing is at the forefront of the Senior Leadership’s plans which include wellbeing days in the academic calendar to help improve the teacher work-life balance. Planning time is protected as much as possible to ensure we have time to make use of the numerous resources provided to us to improve our practice. Opportunities for progression are plenty. I have now progressed to taking on a Head of House role alongside my teaching, furthering my responsibility in the school community. The biggest asset to the school is the people. They create a hardworking, respectful and supportive environment to work in.
